Week 10:

This week started off by getting into a group of 5 and having our studio induction with the equipment, lighting etc, we then all were signed off.
We were then shown the 5x4 cameras, and shown how to set them up on the big tripods.

Jerry Balloch, his work is dark, he uses lowe key images with a high key subject which gave me idea's for a dark background, with light and reflections.

Anthony Downey. a photographer who sets up pieces for advertising, and recently made a piece of work with washing powders for Aperture magazine.

The group i was with collected lots of bottles and mirrors with a laser pen, we had minimal light from the soft box because of the laser giving off light.

  • The camera had to be adjusted for focus and framing.
  • The lighting had to have a light meter reading.
  • The aperture and shutter set.
  • The film into the dark sleeve.
  • The shutter was released.
  • We then developed the film in the colour machine.

The idea was to capture a picture with inspiration from Jerry, the picture had to be dark but high key on the subject.
The picture was taken on F11, aperture f4 and then shutter speed at 1 second on a shutter release cable.
This slow shutter enabled the green laser to slight blur and light up the glasses which looks very detailed and really well done.
